Star Blind Welfare Trust was founded on July 18, 2007, in Madurai to support economically backward and visually impaired individuals. For 19 years, it has been dedicated to their education, employment, and welfare
The trust organizes awareness programs, inviting key figures to encourage differently-abled families. These events create a support network and spread awareness about government schemes.
On September 6, 2024, in Othakadai, Madurai, the government, along with the trust, provided free housing land pattas to 31 differently-abled families. The event was led by District Collector Mrs. Sangeetha IAS and Tamil Nadu Ministers
To help these families build homes, the trust initiated a ₹9,50,000 per house project. The cost is covered in three phases: beneficiaries contribute ₹3 lakhs, the government adds ₹3 lakhs, and donors provide the remaining ₹3.5 lakhs.
The trust surveyed Madurai district, receiving 150 petitions for basic facilities. After assessment, 31 families were selected, ensuring only the most deserving benefited from the housing scheme.
Land pattas were allocated in Thenur First Bit, Madurai, after approval by the District Collector and Revenue Department. The selected families included those with visual, hearing, and physical disabilities.
Homes are being built in three stages to ensure quality. The structured funding ensures timely completion, offering a secure future to the beneficiaries.
The trust aims to expand its impact by securing more housing, employment opportunities, and resources for differently-abled individuals, ensuring long-term sustainability.
